The 7.5-mile trail begins three blocks north of the Bremer Avenue Bridge along First Street Northwest. It crosses the river on a spectacular 500-foot former railroad bridge before passing through downtown Waverly. It goes past the historic train depot, a historic former Chicago Northwestern train station, and the Bremer County Court House and continues southeast and east out of Waverly to Highway 63 where it meets the 2-mile Jefferson City Trail and continues to Denver. Woods along the trail provide a natural habitat for deer, turkey, fox and other woodland creatures. Eight bridges offer beautiful vistas of the surrounding countryside. Benches on the trail provide ideal spots for a brief rest or a picnic lunch or snack.
